Halloween

Every year the same problem occurs a couple of days before Halloween.. What should i wear?, should i even dress up at all? and am I too old to go trick or treating?

This year i think i figured out the answers; Scary dress-ups are old, be creative and tink funfun, yes, i should dress up, it’s the one day of the year it’s accepted to play dress-up – jeaz, and YES, I am too old to go trick or treat

ANYWAYS, back to the what-to-wear-dilemma.. As written above, for me, it’s boring to dress up as something scary.. Dracula, witch, ghost – whatever, face it.. NO ONE ever get’s scared, so what’s the point..? Personally I think it’s funnier to dress up as someone famous; actors, singer, someone royal, you mum/dad, or a certain kind of person; if you’re a boy dress up as a girl, vica verca, a profession, chef, maid, police, prostitute, bag lady (?), and the list goes on.. This year I’m gonna be Amy Winehouse.. It’s pretty easy to copy her signature look, so i think it will turn out great..

The Asteroids Galaxy Tour

…is a Danish alternative band consisting of Mette Lindberg and Lars Iversen. They got famous while Amy Winehouse was touring in Denmark and asked the band to warm up for her. This resolved in the single “Around the Bed” and oh so many other wonderful tracks.

What’s also worth mentioning, is Mette’s amazing sense of style.. She has a huge blonde set of hair, with the cutest bangs, shes super skinny and wears great outfits..

WHERE DID KATHLEEN HANNA GO?

Theres no words that can properly describe how fascinating  this riot grrl is.. Shes talented, has an amazing voice, good values (the best), shes gorgeous, shes funny – shes got it all.. Shes one of the few women I’d go lesbian for.. That’s gotta say it all.. ANYWAY, heres some Hanna-facts:

• Born November 12th, 1968
• Shes an american singer, songwriter, feminist activist and zine-writer
  
• Lead singer og Bikini Kill and Le tigre
• Collaborated with Green Day, Yoko Ono, Atari Teenage Riot and Mike Watt
• She also plays guitar, bass, and drums (!)
• She’s amazing – but where the fuck i she now?

So, this is the old Kathleen – now she teaches art classes at the NYU grad school, she volunteers as a band coach for a rock camp for girls AND shes married to Beasty Boy Adam Horovitz.

KATHLEEN NOW:

I miss the old Kathleen, with her high pony tail and bangs – so adorable, shes still great though, but i keep crossing my fingers for a Le Tigre comeback!

You learn that the only way to get rock-star power as a girl is to be a groupie and bare your breasts and get chosen for the night. We learn that the only way to get anywhere is through men. And it’s a lie.

Yes, i do realise it might be a bit late writing about this trend/style seeing it had its first rise in the early 90′ and had a slight reincarnation a couple og months ago, but it still fascinates me. As I see it, it has to be the best NEW trend raised in the last 20 years.. All other good styles has just been old trends with a slight twists..

Grunge was probably the most significant event, style-wise in the 90′. Btw. don’t know if i’m way  off putting “heroin-chic” (will explain this awkward expression later on) in the same category as grunge, but care. ANYWAYS.. Grunge is NOT worth mentioning without a this great band being mentioned, ofc.. NIRVANA.. The band who created grunge, both music- and fashion-wise..
